Hailing from the University of Colorado Boulder School of Law, Telly Scott comes with a breadth of experience working and researching in many aspects of the legal world. Their biggest goal as an attorney is to help people navigate through difficult life experiences, providing knowledge and advocacy.
Originally from outside of Boston, they graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2023, with degrees in Legal Studies & Ethics and Social Change. Telly was an avid researcher during their undergraduate education working for Professors Paul Collins, Douglas Rice, and Jesse Rhodes. Their research was used in “The Effect of Judicial Decisions on Issue Salience and Legal Consciousness in Media Serving the LGBTQ+ Community.”
Prior to attending the University of Colorado, Telly notably worked as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) practicing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. They worked with disabled individuals ranging from ages 2-26, helping them to navigate living in the world with their disabilities. This experience gave them the perspective of what it is like to care for a disabled individual and what goes into allowing them to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
While attending law school, they were active in doing research for and with their professors. For Professor Mark Squillace, they did research on the Administrative Procedure Act for a report to the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS). For Professor Helen Norton, they researched legal paradigms for litigation regarding religious freedom for future publication.
Their first internship in law school was working for the Aurora City Public Defender Office. This included shadowing public defenders, helping them write legal briefs, and getting a first hand account of court processes in criminal law. In their time at the Office, Telly’s research helped their supervising attorney to win multiple cases, and ultimately help the people of Aurora.
Their next internship was with Aaron Harber, working as his personal legal consultant and getting firsthand experience in the many facets of civil litigation. This work included oil and water rights, insurance claims, consumer protection, and trademark and copyright. Additionally, Telly was his Assistant Producer for The Aaron Harber Show. This included assisting Aaron on his yearly interviews in Aspen during the Aspen Ideas Festival, interviewing individuals such as former Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse
Nora Volkow, former United States Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, and former United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.
Outside of the legal world, Telly enjoys reading, spending time with their two cats, collecting vintage video games, and working on craft projects. They also spend a lot of time in the classical music world as a result of their partner being a professional bassoonist and composer.
